Our Global Impact
Building Beyond Borders:
Habitat Windsor-Essex in Northern Ontario & Around the World
At Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex, our mission extends beyond our local community. Whether supporting remote Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario or partnering with Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village program to build and repair homes internationally, we believe that safe, decent housing is a foundation for a better future—no matter where you live. Our teams of skilled volunteers and passionate leaders work alongside local communities to provide critical home repairs, improve infrastructure, and create lasting change. From Fort Hope to Brazil, we are building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
Caruaru, Brazil 2025
This year, Fiona Coughlin, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex, will lead a Global Village team to Caruaru, Brazil, to support life-changing housing and water access initiatives. In this region, many families face severe challenges, including limited access to clean water and inadequate housing conditions. By constructing 16,000-liter cisterns and improving living environments, our team will help create healthier, more sustainable communities. Through shelter, we empower families to build a better future. Click here to learn how you can get involved:
Eabametoong First Nation, 2024
The work isn’t finished—when communities face challenges accessing skilled trades and essential repairs, continued support makes all the difference. In December 2024, Rick Young returned to Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope) with a dedicated team to build on previous efforts, not only repairing critical electrical components but also addressing vital plumbing needs. Their work helps ensure homes are safe, functional, and sustainable in this remote northern community. Thank you to all who continue to make this possible. Nepal 2024

Fiona Coughlin, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex, joined a dedicated team of volunteers to build homes, working alongside local families to transform lives. Their efforts bring us closer to a world where everyone has a safe place to call home. Learn more about this inspiring journey here:
